Curriculum activity 3- Sewing up a Saga (Collaborative activity)

Aim of the Activity:

• The aim of this project was to study the short stories by different authors like Ruskin Bond, Rudyard Kipling and O.Henry

• To understand and inculcate moral values through stories in their daily lives.

• To identify a range of literary works

• To develop critical thinking

• To develop organizational and productivity skills

• The creative development of child was brought about by way of activities such as drawing, art and paintings

• To help students evaluate, analyze and compare different stories

• To appreciate the life and works of different authors

• To develop a sense of responsibility through morals

Sub Activity 1:

• On the basis of the research work done by the students, a story writing competition was conducted in the school and the partner school.

• The students of grade VI were given three stories each of Ruskin Bond, Rudyard Kipling and O. Henry and were asked to take out one character from any story and then build up a new story with a new title and moral. These were then evaluated on the basis of creativity, organization of plot, spellings and grammar in the months of July and August.


Sub Activity 2:

• A cover-page makeup contest was organized in the school based on the best 5 stories from the partner school. The handouts of the stories were given to Grade VII students a week prior to the contest and then shared with partner school.

• Joint report was written by the students of both grade VI and VII.
